Netherlands-based semiconductor maker Nexperia expects to double its revenue in India over the next few years and has committed to tripling its existing footprint in the country within five years, according to Interim CEO Stefan Tilgner.
Tilgner made the remarks to ANI in The Hague during Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal's visit to the Netherlands. He said Nexperia has signed a joint agreement with Tata to work on semiconductor development and manufacturing.
“We expect our company to double our revenue in India basically in the next few years and we have also commitments in place to actually triple our current existing footprint in the coming five years,” Tilgner said.
Tilgner said India's economic growth, particularly in the automotive sector, presents significant opportunities for the company. Automotive accounts for more than half of Nexperia's total business, while energy infrastructure, data centres and other applications offer further room for expansion.
He also pointed to the government's semiconductor strategy, support for manufacturing investment and the emergence of local raw material suppliers as important factors for the sector, along with India's talent pool at a time when skilled talent is becoming scarce in several other countries.
“We see certainly that the announced semiconductor strategy 2.0 is very important for us as a semiconductor company,” he said.
