Aeonsemi Launches Ultra-Compact ArcadiumNano Silicon Oscillators for Automotive and Robotics

New timing ICs deliver frequencies from 10kHz to 125MHz, up to 80% lower power consumption and packages as small as 1.2 × 1.0mm for space-constrained designs.

Aeonsemi, an innovator of mixed-signal and DSP connectivity ICs, announced the ArcadiumNano™ family of silicon oscillators, bringing the company’s field-proven Arcadium™ DSP timing technology to ultra-compact packages for automotive, robotics, industrial and other space-constrained applications. ArcadiumNano™ supports any output frequency from 10 kHz to 125 MHz and package sizes as small as 1.2 × 1.0 mm. Integrated spread-spectrum clocking (SSC) helps system designers address challenging EMC requirements without the cost and board space of a PLL-based clock generator.

Arcadium™ is Aeonsemi’s proprietary silicon oscillator technology. Unlike quartz and MEMS oscillators, which rely on mechanical resonators, Arcadium™ oscillators use electronic LC resonators implemented in standard CMOS, without any mechanical resonating structures. Advanced on-chip DSP, sensing and compensation maintain precise output frequency across temperature. This CMOS-based architecture enables a streamlined semiconductor supply chain with rapid frequency customisation and scalable manufacturing. More than 50 million Arcadium™ oscillators have shipped into networking, data centre and industrial applications, with zero reported field-return failures to date — demonstrating the exceptional reliability of Aeonsemi’s all-silicon oscillator technology.

Built on the Arcadium™ family’s proven reliability and streamlined CMOS supply chain, ArcadiumNano™ reduces power consumption by up to 80% compared with previous-generation Arcadium™ devices, extends the operating temperature range up to +125°C, and expands package options to include industry-standard 1.2 × 1.0 mm (1210), 2.0 × 1.6 mm (2016), 2.5 × 2.0 mm (2520) and 3.2 × 2.5 mm (3225) packages. A continuous 1.62 V to 3.63 V supply range, built-in SSC and two-week custom sample availability further simplify adoption across a broad range of applications.
