The Chinese government announced a partial relaxation of its export restrictions on Nexperia-manufactured semiconductor components. The decision allows the limited resumption of shipments for low-sensitivity devices such as diodes and transistors, primarily used in automotive and industrial systems.
The move follows weeks of global uncertainty after China halted exports in response to the Netherlands’ national intervention in Nexperia’s ownership structure. Authorities said the revised framework balances supply-chain stability with the need to protect national technological interests.
Under the new guidelines, exporters may apply for exemptions through provincial commerce departments, subject to review. Industry observers see this as a pragmatic step to prevent manufacturing disruptions across Europe while preserving Beijing’s leverage in ongoing trade and technology dialogues.
The Ministry of Commerce emphasised that strategic semiconductor categories remain restricted, reaffirming China’s commitment to advancing self-reliance in high-performance chip design and fabrication.
