Wingtech Technology, the Chinese company that owns European semiconductor firm Nexperia, has said it expects to report a much larger loss in 2025, citing ongoing tensions with Dutch authorities as a key factor behind the weaker outlook.
The Shanghai-listed group warned that its losses for the year could range between 9 billion and 13.5 billion yuan, a sharp increase compared with the previous year. The company said the deterioration is mainly linked to restrictions affecting its control over Nexperia, following legal and regulatory actions in the Netherlands.
Although a Dutch government order to seize Nexperia was later suspended, a court ruling in October limited Wingtech’s ability to manage the chipmaker’s operations. Wingtech said these constraints continue to have a negative impact on business performance.
The company also expects to record significant impairment and investment losses, which are likely to weigh heavily on its annual results. This represents a marked reversal from 2024, when Wingtech reported a far smaller loss.
Earlier in the year, Wingtech had posted strong profit growth for the first three quarters, but it had already cautioned that regulatory uncertainty surrounding Nexperia could undermine its financial performance going forward.
