Redwire Opens New Microgravity Research Facility to Advance Semiconductor and Space Manufacturing

Redwire's new 30,000-square-foot Indiana facility will support semiconductor materials research, pharmaceutical innovation and space manufacturing, expanding microgravity R&D capabilities for the growing commercial space economy.

Redwire Corporation (NYSE: RDW), a global leader in space and defense technology solutions, has opened its new 30,000-square-foot state-of-the-art, vertically integrated research and microgravity payload development facility in Georgetown, Indiana. The facility will serve as a global hub supporting accelerated demand as the company continues to expand its leadership in space-enabled research, development, and manufacturing with a focus on pharmaceutical/biotech innovation.

Located at the Novaparke Innovation & Technology Campus in Floyd County, Indiana, Redwire’s facility features advanced engineering and scientific laboratories as well as its own Payload Operations Control Centre—Redwire’s central command post to oversee all science and research operations on the International Space Station (ISS) in real-time. The facility also serves as a key operational site for Space Microgravity Development LLC (SpaceMD), Redwire’s venture company focused on leveraging the microgravity environment to drive innovation in biotech and other fields.

The company marked the grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the facility on July 20, 2026. The event was attended by Indiana Governor Mike Braun, Redwire Chairman and CEO Peter Cannito, Mike Gold, President of Redwire Space, John Vellinger, CEO of SpaceMD, former NASA astronaut Charlie Walker, and former NASA astronaut and U.S. Navy Captain Ken Bowersox.
