Analog Devices Completes Empower Semiconductor Acquisition to Advance AI Data Centre Power Management Solutions

08 July 2026 | NEWS

The acquisition strengthens Analog Devices' AI power management portfolio by adding advanced integrated voltage regulator technology to improve power delivery, efficiency and compute density for next-generation AI processors and hyperscale data centres.

Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI) has completed its acquisition of Empower Semiconductor, marking a strategic move to strengthen its position in advanced power management solutions for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and high-performance computing.

The acquisition enhances Analog Devices' role as a system-level power technology partner, extending its expertise from the electrical grid to the processor core. By integrating Empower Semiconductor's advanced voltage regulation technology, the company aims to deliver more efficient and scalable power architectures capable of supporting the rapidly increasing energy demands of AI processors and next-generation computing platforms.

As AI workloads continue to grow, power delivery has become one of the most significant challenges for hyperscale data centres and semiconductor manufacturers. Modern AI accelerators require increasingly sophisticated power management solutions that can provide high current, lower losses, faster transient response, and improved thermal efficiency, while enabling higher compute density within limited space.

Empower Semiconductor has developed innovative integrated voltage regulator technology designed to address these challenges by improving power efficiency and reducing the physical footprint of power delivery systems. Combined with Analog Devices' broad portfolio of analogue, mixed-signal, and power management technologies, the acquisition is expected to strengthen the company's ability to deliver complete power solutions for AI infrastructure.

Commenting on the acquisition, Vincent Roche, Chief Executive Officer and Chair of Analog Devices, said:

"Today marks an exciting milestone as we welcome the Empower team to ADI and take an important step forward in solving one of the most complex challenges in modern electronics – power delivery for the AI era.

AI infrastructure is fundamentally reshaping how power must be delivered, with energy now one of the most persistent constraints to scaling next-generation systems. Empower's breakthrough technology is designed to directly address this bottleneck, unlocking new levels of efficiency and performance for AI processors.

Leveraging ADI's technology and scale, we will help customers rearchitect their power systems and achieve the compute densities next-generation AI demands. The impact will extend well beyond AI data centres to any domain where energy constrains what is possible."

The transaction also expands Analog Devices' addressable market in AI compute power delivery, an area experiencing rapid growth as cloud service providers, semiconductor manufacturers, and enterprise customers invest heavily in AI infrastructure.

Beyond AI data centres, the combined technologies are expected to support a wide range of applications where efficient power conversion is critical, including advanced communications infrastructure, industrial automation, automotive electronics, and other high-performance computing environments.

With demand for AI continuing to accelerate globally, the acquisition reinforces Analog Devices' long-term strategy of providing intelligent, system-level solutions that improve energy efficiency, system performance, and scalability across the evolving semiconductor ecosystem.
