Shares rise nearly 4% as the company targets high-value semiconductor segments critical for AI accelerators, hyperscale data centres and next-generation optical networks.

Izmo Microsystems, an India-based technology company,  announced its strategic expansion into semiconductor advanced packaging and silicon-photonics solutions — areas increasingly critical for next-generation AI data centres, telecom networks, and ultra-high-speed interconnects.

The announcement drove Izmo’s share price up by nearly 4% in Monday trading, reflecting investor confidence in the company’s plans to enter high-value segments of the global semiconductor supply chain.

Izmo Microsystems said it will focus on developing packaging technologies and silicon-photonics components tailored for AI accelerators, high-bandwidth data-centre architectures, and next-generation optical communication systems. These technologies are increasingly essential as AI workloads surge and cloud providers demand higher data throughput, improved thermal performance, and more energy-efficient architectures.

“AI models and hyperscale networks are creating unprecedented demand for advanced packaging and photonics,” an Izmo Microsystems spokesperson said. “Our expansion positions us to serve global technology customers that require cutting-edge interconnect and data-transmission solutions.”

Industry analysts note that Izmo’s move aligns with the broader trend of Indian semiconductor-adjacent companies shifting beyond chip design and backend services to pursue more complex, higher-value functions. Unlike traditional fab or design-led strategies, advanced packaging and silicon photonics offer India an opportunity to plug directly into fast-growing global chip-value chains tied to AI, cloud, and telecom infrastructure.

“This is a small but meaningful development within India’s semiconductor ecosystem,” said an industry observer. “As global AI demand reshapes supply chains, companies like Izmo are beginning to carve out positions in niche, high-growth segments where India can build competitive capability.”

India’s government has also emphasized advanced packaging, compound semiconductors, and photonics as strategic focus areas under its semiconductor mission — domains where the country has the potential to establish manufacturing and IP strengths without the requirement of large-scale traditional fabs.

With its latest expansion, Izmo Microsystems aims to accelerate collaboration with global chipmakers, cloud operators, telecom OEMs, and photonics integrators over the next 12–18 months.
