Sanand assembly and test facility moves toward commercial production in 2026

Micron Technology is accelerating the execution of its India manufacturing strategy as it advances its long-term production roadmap in the country. The company’s assembly and test facility in Sanand, Gujarat, is progressing steadily toward full operations, marking a major milestone in Micron’s global manufacturing expansion.

Developed with support from India’s semiconductor incentive programmes, the Sanand facility has entered the pilot phase, with commercial production targeted to begin in early 2026. The transition underscores Micron’s shift from planning to scaled execution in India.

The facility will support critical back-end semiconductor operations, including assembly, testing, marking, and packaging of memory and storage products for global customers. By establishing advanced manufacturing capabilities in India, Micron is strengthening its supply chain resilience while expanding capacity to meet growing global demand.

Micron has emphasized that the investment will create high-quality employment opportunities, contribute to advanced skill development, and integrate India more closely into the company’s global manufacturing and technology network. Progress at the Sanand site reinforces Micron’s long-term commitment to India as a strategic hub within its worldwide semiconductor operations.
